The boxed rice mixes are a product line which has had a long familar relationship with Goya’s audience. So when asked to redesign the line we drew on some design elements which will maintain that familar and comfortable reputation yet convey the message with contemporary graphics. The design directive asked to maintain the same images and color coding of existing products which we were able to do but the aid of creative retouching added necessary elements to balance the design. The incorporation of the “rice field” ghosted background communicates a natural while making the design more cohesive. The redesign of back panel cooking instructions and suggested recipes with easier to understand illustrations and new layout make the package more user friendly. The color coding of flavors was revised to give more differentiation between flavors and allow for a better printed product.
